My Publication

Hi readers,

Back to two years from now, I have wrote three papers. Well, I'm not a single writer actually, but I wrote them with my colleagues. One of them is...... my wife :)

My first paper was How to Identify Degraded Land for Sustainable Palm Oil in Indonesia. My involvement in this paper is as a GIS analyst and facilitator for participatory mapping in Project POTICO. This WRI/Sekala Working Paper demonstrates how to implement a quick and cost-effective method for identifying potentially suitable “degraded land” for sustainable palm oil production in Indonesia and presents results from the application of the method in West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. The method consists of a desktop analysis as well as field assessments. The desktop portion of the method will be made easily replicable through an interactive Kalimantan-wide Suitability Mapper website. Many thanks to Sekala and WRI for giving me chances to involve in this activity.

The second paper was Peranan Teknologi Penginderaan Jauh bagi Penangkapan Ikan di Indonesia. This chapter in a book titled Bunga Rampai Penginderaan Jauh Indonesia Jilid Kedua tells about how remote sensing technology has a role in fisheries sector in Indonesia. Me and my lovely wife compared few similar activity in various country with PPDPI that developed by Indonesia Ministry of Marines and Fisheries Affairs. PPDPI stands for Peta Prakiraan Daerah Penangkapan Ikan or Map of Potential Fishing Ground Prediction (MPFGP) in English. Thanks to pak Ketut Wikantika for his advices and suggestions to improve this paper.

Third paper is the second paper that me and my lovely wife wrote. Its titled Identifikasi Thermal Fronts di Selat Makassar dan Laut Banda. The paper was very technical. We develop tools in ArcGIS based on algorithm developed by Cayula-Cornillon (1992). The tools then used by Balai Penelitian dan Observasi Laut (BPOL) or IMRO (Institute for Marine Research and Observation) to improve their previous product, which is PPDPI/MPFGP. We also presented this paper in Simposium Sains Geoinformasi event, held by Faculty of Geography in Gadjah Mada University. Many thanks to PPDPI team for the wonderful teamwork for those 3 years!!!

If you study or work in field of spatial science, you may interested in those papers. You may find the links to each paper above. Don't forget to make a good citation :)
Cheers.....
